I rented a room w/ a company which advertises and states in their lease agreement to find “suitable roommates”. One of the roommates made advances of a romantic nature multiple times. I declined and showed disinterest each time. His behavior was unfriendly and a bit hostile, then became aggressive. After less than a month, I was as direct about not being interested and ask him to stop. At this point, he started insulting me and becoming abusive. Many of these incidents happened via text messages. I contacted the company and shared the text msgs. On their first reply, they suggested I transfer to another one of their properties. I expressed dissatisfaction with having to move but his behavior worsen. I started touring their other rooms but rooms of a similar size and location were at least $100 a month more. Rooms with the same rate were much smaller (40 sq ft less) and in less ideal location for my commute. I have asked that they honor my current rate and help w/moving expenses.
send a letter memorializing the situation and then consider small claims action against both?
