I'm in the US on F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT), which expires on August 4, 2020. I'm filing for an O-1 with Change of Status to eliminate the need to leave the country. By what date does USCIS need to receive the O-1 petition so I can remain in the States legally?
CIS must RECEIVE the application by August 4.
But, why are you delaying?
ALSO, have you talked to an attorney ... it is difficult for a former student (even with a PhD) to get an O-1.
Generally, USCIS must Receive the Form I-129 with supplement O and supporting documents on or before August 4, 2020. With COVID-19 we would recommend filing in July.
