I am a licensed Florida paramedic. I recently had a felony conviction for domestic violence with strangulation. I am currently on community control. Five months of two years served to date. The state board found probable cause to believe that I violated one of the statutes regulating my profession via the conviction. I was told my options are a formal hearing before a judge, an informal hearing before an officer at the Department of Health, or through a settlement agreement. I have no idea which way gives me the best chance for a positive outcome or what type of attorney to retain. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You need to contact a qualified/experienced local License Defense Attorney to help you navigate the disciplinary proceedings ASAP! Do NOT try to save your career without legal assistance, or face much more severe potential outcomes including Suspension or outright Revocation! Good luck.
I also have no idea which way gives you the best chance for a positive outcome but I can suggest an administrative law attorney (someone who routinely handles administrative hearings).
Wishing you luck and hoping that I have been helpful in answering your question.
