Awol

My 17 yr old son has went AWOL from basic training 3 times in 30 days. This last time we contacted his drill sergent he and he told us there is no need to bring him back. Just let nature take it's course. I hate to see him court martialed even though I think that is what will happen. This whole ordeal has my son so messed up in the head it isn't even funny. Everyone is under alot of stress. I would like to see him go back to school this school year coming up and graduate. Can you tell me what we need to do?

If I'm in the National Guard, and I transfer to active duty, is my civilian employer obligated to hold my full time civilian job until I finish my enlistment?

AWOL Called to Active Duty

I was in the National Guard, but I went AWOL shortly after basic training. I have been away for nearly 3 years now, but recently recieved a Mobilization Packet calling me to active duty. What exactly is going on here and what happens if I don't report? Why would the Army try to call somebody to actice duty when they are AWOL?

OPSEC and PERSEC

I am a member of an online community and also in the military. On this online community, I have not disclosed my unit number, full name or unit location. I have posted my last name, the city I live in and a somewhat detailed description of my job. However in my job description I do not disclose any locations, unit numbers, military operations (past, present or future) or anything that I can think is sensitive. Is there any OPSEC or PERSEC violation there? Especially when considering that there are very detailed and specific job descriptions are available for public access on �.mil� websites, not to mention even policy and procedures for my job.

Time Limit on Charges

I have been in a legal mess for over a year. Nothing has really been done about it. I did nothing wrong really, it is the command's error on the wording of the rule. I refused NJP. I was wondering if there was a time limit on them bring me up on charges and making something happen?

Walter Reed malpractice

As a spouse (and retired military member), can I take legal action against DoD, Dept. Army, Walter Reed or a specific Army doctor for not providing my spouse proper medical care which has likely resulted in permanent disabilities?

Spouse returned from Iraq within months began having medical problems including seizures. Doctors told us it was pyschological and that he had no brain injury even though he was near multiple explosions and helmet stopped shrapnel. Nearly three years later, as he continued to medically decline, it appears he does have a brain injury, but it may be too late to improve his conditions.

obtaining a security clearance

In May 2002, I entered the Navy and was processed out 3 months later with an Entry Level Separation, RE4 - Erroneous Entry/Other. Basically, my recruiter errored in not disclosing certain medical information, and was also ordered not to disclose it at MEPS. Being an order from my superior, I obeyed, but was later discovered during training so I was transferred to separations. I requested an appeal, but due to overcrowding of the barracks, I was separated without due process. I appealed again after my separation to have my code upgraded to an RE3, but it was rejected and the code was never changed. From what was explained to me by a Commander at the Great Lakes legal facilities, they going wipe out my military record and make it look like I was never there. I have been able to carry on a relatively stable civilian life with no problems getting grants/loans for school, and even currently hold state licenses to process certain financial transactions. However, they didn't disclose much info regarding security clearances. I am currently in pursuit of a new career where a secret security clearance is required. I need to know if an ELS RE4 will have an impact on my security clearance. Any info on this is greatly appreciated!

My son sign a contract for the navy in nov. of last year. Know he does not want to join. They are telling him he has to go because he signed a contract. What can he do?

National Guard and discharge

I never did. My enlistment obligation was up sept. 2001 and inactive ready reserve up in 2003. I wanted to get a copy of my dd-214 if I have one but afraid I might be opening up a can worms. I don't think there is a warrant out for arrest as I have been pulled over by police recently and they said nothing about it. Just want to know what my standing is with the National Guard and is my reason for requesting dd-214. Should I request it may I still be in some sort of trouble?

military discharge

I am being discharged from the Air Force for drug use. the only thing is it was by accident. i know this sounds farfetched. i was sick at the time and my medicine was mixed up with my wife's. is there anything i can do to NOT be discharged?

Military Medical Board Question

Does anyone know how to file a correction to a military medical board. There was an act that was just signed in Jan 2008 about disabled veterans being rated invalid. Can anyone tell me more about the 2008 NDAA SEC. 1643. REVIEW OF SEPARATION OF MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES SEPARATED FROM SERVICE WITH A DISABILITY RATING OF 20 PERCENT DISABLED OR LESS. And will I need to get a lawyer to accomplish this or can I just got to Disabled American Veterans and or American Veterans to get help on filing an appeal to the medical rating.

Upgrade Military Discharge

I was given an OTH discharge from the army after beeing awol for nearly 2 years. Prior to my stupidity (and that is what it was) I had no history of non judical punishment of any kind. my service record show that I was a good soldier who made a very bad choice. Do I have any hope of having my discharge upgraded and if so what is my best corse of action?

August 20th 2005 I was discharge from the US Army Reserve for failing drug tests. During this time I was going to see a military phsychitrist and was going through a lot of emotional problems shortly after my mother died while I was in the military. I was young at the time and didn't really know how to handle such things. Is it possible to upgrade my discharge.
