case withdrawal

My attorney recently withdrew from my case. Do I have to find another attorney, or can I just go to my next court date without an attorney? Will I get in trouble for that?

Re: case withdrawal

You are entitled to represent yourself, but there are obviously reasons why that is not a good idea.

I would recommend that you seek a new attorney, but if you cannot find someone before the next Court date, just go in and explain to the judge that your attorney withdrew and you are looking for a new one. Most judges will give you a couple of weeks to find someone.

FYI, the Judge will know about your attorney withdrawing as the attorney will usually need to file a withdrawal and get the Court's approval.
