child custody

if i am on probation will this stop me from haveing legal custody of my childl

Not necessarily. Courts look at the entire situation/background when determining what is in the best interests of the child. While they could limit your custody or visitation for a period of time if they are concerned, you would at least get some visitation, or supervised visitation, until you have demonstrated to the court's satisfaction that you are a good parent. If the child's other parent does not bring this up to the court, then the court likely won't address it on their own.
