Construction
There is a big construction next to
the building my business in. Large
trucks park in front and block the
business completely, also there are
periodic traffic line closures, which
makes very difficult for customers to
enter and exit parking lot. Am I
entitled to compensation from the
construction company?
Re: Construction
Sometimes there is a condition in a building permit requiring mitigation of traffic and access impacts. A first step would be to review the permit application file at the appropriate city or county permit office. I am aware of cases where major street work obligated the city to compensate affected businesses, but do not recall the facts or the laws relied uopn by the court in ordering compensation.
