Do I need permission to use quotes?

I am publishing a book and a calendar, and want to use a number of famous and not so famous quotes. Do I need permission or is it public domain?

Re: Do I need permission to use quotes?

Possibly. It depend son a lot of factors such as, age of the quote, your use of the quote, the author. Consult with a local intellectual property attorney.
