Hello,

I am in a Fraternity that is trying to force certain members of us to turn over our academic college grades. They are imposing fines on us if we do not turn them over. Is this not a violation of the Privacy Act or something similar to it? We never agreed to this when we joined this organization. The executive board which is made up of fellow college students voted on it and is enforcing it when it was never discussed by the general body. Thank you for your time.

FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) prohibits disclosure of your academic records unless you specifically authorize it. Here's a useful page that can give you some more information about your records and under what conditions they can be released.
