In 2007 I went through a tough time. A friend (who wished to be more than that) helped me a lot. He helped me move from one state to another and stored my things. When I couldn't be more than a friend he threatened to keep my things unless I slept with him or paid him. I couldn't pay him and I wouldn't sleep with him.
I am an artist. He has several of my artworks. My late mother was an artist and he has several of her artworks as well. I never agreed to let him have these things and I never knew what I could do legally. Now, he is saying that everything is gone except the artwork which he plans to auction. Is there anything I can do legally to keep this from happening and get my artworks back?
Yes, you can file what's called a Warrant in Detinue against this wrongful withholder of your personal property for its return to you and further request that the court enter a judgment against the defendant for the fair market value of any which for whatever reason cannot be returned.
