I work at a Salon suite on Virginia, can the owners deny you to park in the front row of the handicaps parking space, I have a sign. Said to me that's it for clients not members.
An employer has no power to decide which State authorized handicapped individuals can park in which handicapped spots in a particular parking lot. . An employer in an at will employment situation does have the power to terminate an employee for any reason at all.....or even for no reason at all absent union protections, a written employment contract or illegal discrimination against a protected class of persons. Tread carefully. Speak to a local employment law attorney about the parking situation AND the possible (wrong but possible) consequences of standing your ground.
You will need to consult with an attorney to fully evaluate your situation. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires employers to make reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities. The provision of a reserved parking spot or the alteration of an employer's policy on parking spot assignments could be reasonable accommodations under the ADA. A knowledgeable labor & employment attorney can best advise you as to how to request an accommodation from your employer and how to provide supporting evidence of your protected disability (presuming one exists).
