owning a mortgage with someone you are not married with
6 months ago my boyfriend and I purchased a condo together. We didn't put any money down. however the condo is in both our name. We've just recent split up. I'm staying in the condo and he is moving out. Basically since we've lived in the condo together he has contributed 2500.00 which is Sept,Nov, Dec January share of the mortgage. Since I cannot refinance for 5 years I have to keep his name on the mortgage. However, if I choose to sell the condo after 5 years he wants half of the profit. Do i have any rights. What options do I have?
Re: owning a mortgage with someone you are not married with
Would he agree to a buy out now for the amount that he contributed? In addition, although you have him on the mortgage, you can still change the deed if he is willing upon buy out.
Sincerely, Maria Murber
