warrant in debt

I have been issued a warrant in debt for an unsecured loan (Beneficial) & I have sent them all the info about my monthly expenses as requested along with some payments. They have threatened to garnish my wages but after my expenses there's really almost zero left each month as my husband is unemployed & has been for a number of months. Can they still garnish my wages? I do not have any assets other than my car & clothes-we live with my husband's parents-so we don't own a home. I hope you can clarify things for me.

Thanks

Re: warrant in debt

Yes, once the creditor has obtained a valid judgment against you for the amount owed, they can have a summons in garnishment issue out of the court to attach 25% of your net salary. (Net salary in this situation normally means what's left in the paycheck after all MANDATORY deductions.)
