My event postponed because the artists left the U.S. 2 days earlier arguing coronavirus restrictions in their country of residence.
At that point NYC had just passed the law of gatherings of 500 ppl or less so technically I could have had the event, since I had pre-sold 400 tickets online. While I’m glad I had to cancel, that wasn’t my 1st intention at that time. So I wasn’t refunding any tickets. (Refunded $28k in tickets after) I had spent over $30k in expenses (flights, visas, marketing etc.) so my goals went from making a profit to damage control trying to minimize losses by having the event.
The artists management stayed in NYC 4 days awaiting the dates of my event and the other 2 in Boston and DC.
At first there was an agreement that all promoters would share the expenses equally. But since the artists decided to leave & changed their return tickets without agreement, I am not sure whether I owe anything for their stay in NYC, since the event did not happen.
Now the artists’ management has decided not to work with me in the future. Clearly, this is another issue since the performance venue expects another event this year or I loose my deposit of 10K. Please advise. Ty
