I'm a US perm. resident currently in EU(since January)working in the company branch office.
I supposed to travel back to the US mid March (today!), but due to force majeure events that we all are passing through, that includes travel restrictions and difficulties to catch flights and cross boarders,my office is suggesting to remain in EU until I feel safe to travel.
I'm fine,no symptoms, and public health would cover anything in case I get sick.
My decision to not travel now is also because I don't want to jeopardize my health and affect other passengers and friends once I'm back in the US.
My stay can surpass the 6 months standard period rule for any GreenC holder. Will I have issues at the Custom Boarder if travel back after 7/8 months?
Clearly my decision to stay is NOT because I have intention to abandon my lawful permanent residence. Do I need to contact Homeland Security and inform them? Or a letter from my company stating all of the above?
Unless the government makes an exception to the Green Card rules, you should anticipate that any non compliance with the conditions of your permit will jeopardize it. You should return to the US before the maximum time you can be absent. Of course, you should check with a doctor to see if you have any health problems that advise against travel.
Fingers Amputated
Hi, my husband's four fingers were amputated while handling a machine, however the 4000 lb material fell on him. He was without any formal training and was on other equipment without a certificate. There were no safety precautions what so ever. He lost his finger tips as they were smashed. In addition, his job responsiblity was working as a clerical person, whoever the company laidoff two warehouse people and had him working for their position. He had been working at that position for two weeks and was told he would be there for a while.
