I filed motion to modify custody orders through efile. This was sent to my attorney, my ex's attorney and myself. My question is do I need to serve my ex on this or will his attorney notify him?

If you're initiating an action, yes. If there is a pending action and said attorney of record is still retained by your ex, then no. Do you want to be safe? Serve everyone.
