My parents are newly divorced after 57 years of marriage. All the money is on my mother's name. My father is going to need hospice care in the near future. The only money he will have is his social security. Will he be eligible for medicad?

If your father needs hospice care, this is usually covered by Medicare, not Medicaid.

Nonetheless, if he needs care in the home, his monthly income must be below $767 dollars to be eligible for Medicaid, the only program that will pay for home attendants etc. If his income is above that amount, he can either pay that excess amount to Medicaid, or if he needs the use of his income he should speak to an elder care attorney that can help him with appropriate Medicaid planning.
