My case exceeds statute of limitations. I spent 6 months in Virginia for Navy training in 2005. I followed Virginia law and had the vehicle re-tagged, registered, and insured in the state. Before I deployed to Japan, I visited family in N.J. and left my car there with a limited power of attorney for my friend to sell the car. It was sold around the fall of 2005 or early in 2006. Virginia is now claiming I had the vehicle uninsured which is completely untrue. We did everything legally. Because this case was so long ago, I'm unable to furnish a signed title or notarized bill of sale that Virginia is demanding to reinstate my driving privileges. I've been a Florida resident since 2003 and can't get my license renewed in Florida now. I've only heard about this when I went to renew on July 20.
