Fiance got 2 DUIs 10 days apart in Nov2016. Courts finalized and charged him Jul2017. He lost his licence for 2yrs. But needs a license to get to work. When can he apply for OLL? Don't want to lose his job. His lawyer was no help as he knew nothing about OLL. Tired of paying $$ not getting a simple answer. Called DMV they won't help and just referred to site that makes me have more questions. Don't want to pay $$ for it to be just denied. Can some one please tell me when he can apply for it? He made a huge mistake, a good person in fear a losing his 17yr job as he lives 1hr away.
The challenge is the Occupational Limited License is no longer available for DUI suspensions. The law changed in August of last year and there are still a lot of questions about its application. With two offenses he may be eligible for an ignition Interlock Limited License. The chart here shows when he would be eligible for appying: http://www.dot.state.pa.us/Public/DVSPubsForms/BDL/BDL%20Fact%20Sheets/fs-iillchart.pdf
As you can see from the chart it appears that the application period depends on the facts of his particular case. More information can be found here: http://www.dmv.pa.gov/Information-Centers/Suspensions/Pages/Ignition-Interlock-Limited-License.aspx
Good luck!
