my daughter was invited to go the the Domician Republic to play softball this summer. Along with her, 3 other girls from her high school were also invitied to go. All signed up. Donations were sought by my husband and I through local VFW and American Legions and a business. The 3 other girls have backed out going, so the organization running this trip transferred what was donationed to the other girls to my daughters account. Now after much consideration my daughter doesn't want to go becasue there is no one going she know. So far we have a total of $675 in her account that was donated. The trip costs about $3000. Now that she has decided she doesn't want to go for that reason, this organiztion states no refund will be made to these organizations. They said it stated in the paperword that the first $740 is non-refundable. I have no paperwork that states that out of what I received. Since she is not going are we liable to pay back this money to the local organizations that donated the money. I would be appreciated if you could give me an answer asap. Thanks.

I went for an interview with a startup company, the interview process went very well, in which at the end of the first interview the VP of Marketing gave me action items to follow-up. This action items was to create a document on competitive analysis against their competition, he wanted me to write up a document (fact finding/competitive analysis) featuring 6 companies.

I created a 22 page document which when I was called back I handed this document over to this VP, the VP looked through it at a high level and gave it back�.then 1 week went by and then HR called me to meet the CEO of this startup..? I met the CEO, it was a fruitful 30 minute conversation which he stated to me �Oh the VP gave you some homework�

Now my question is based on California law, IF this startup company does not offer me this position, can I bill them for my services based on they gave me action items/ homework that would benefit them..? Since I felt like a consultant performing work for this company..?

In closing I did not getr the job and they did not provide me a reason either!

I am a federal law enforcement officer for the U.S. Dept Of Homeland Security / Immigration & Customs Enforcement. In 2006 i was interviewed by the Office of internal audit. They questioned me about theft of overtime and overseas details. All of the allegaions i felt were false and i answered the same. After the interview i havent heard anything from them. I wanted to know if they had a statute of limitations on any action they may want to take and how i can find out if the case is closed.

I am a plaintiff in pro per in a civil case lawsuit. I sued the defendant for refusing to fix my unit that was heavily water damaged as a result of massive bathtub overflow from his unit. His insurance denied my claim by arguing that it was the defendant's girl friend who cause the incident. After my lawsuit, the defendant's insurance assumed his legal expenses. Based on my understanding of CCP Section 2033.010, I served RFA on the defendant's insurance claim representative who denied my claim. The defendant's counsel is now asking me to withdraw my RFA to the claim adjuster arguing that 1) my RFA are improper and not permitted under the CA Discovery Act, 2) Neither the insurance adjuster nor the defendant's insurance are parties to my lawsuit, 3) the court can not even admit that the defendant is insured or that his insurance denied my claim.

Please clarify if the defendant's counsel is right. I have also sent the defendant request for production of documents asking him to produce a complete copy of his insurance so that I can review the policy. Can the defendant's counsel refuse that too?

On Jan 3rd 2006. However, I intuitively I started calling in November 2007 requesting contact to settle. I did not accept initial settlement. Although, I had not intend to file legal suit. From Nov to Jan 23 I continue to call request settlement. The ins carrier never called back. I left several messages. Can I still make a claim for non responsiveness?

I applied for a Birth Cert, state of Michigan, and was informed none existed under that name. They search 2 or 3 years before and after the applied date. Subsequently learned my father changed his name, not legally so, and I have lived with my applied name all my life since childhood, school, military, work life. I learned the true name and have applied and received a Birth Cert under my true name. I want to apply for a Passport, which requires a certified Birth Cert. How can I overcome the discrepancy with the complication of the two names in order to get a Passport what with all the Homeland Security obstacles in place? My older siblings have all passed, as have my both parents.

I live in a residential area but in the canyon below our houses are cattle. Three cow got loose and came into my yard and two of my neighbors. The cows left large hoof marks throughout the lawn. The owner is willing to fix the lawns but only by piecing them together-leaving uneven terrain. We want the owner to restore the lawns to their original state. He says if we want the entire lawn fixed that he will not pay for it-only a percentage. We explained that the lawns were in good condition and not in need of repair until his cows destroyed them.

What recourse do we have interms of making him do an appropriate repair? There are some areas of lawn that were not touched but fixing only the hoof marked areas will make the lawn uneven and

appearance poor.
