if a national born American child moves to another country, is adopted by a step parent (and who's birth parent is till in the picture), does the child automatically relinquish American Citizenship, or can that child still remain an american citizen--if no overt action is taken to relinquish american citizenship, or adopt the citizenship of another country--if the birth parent relinquishes american citizenship, may the child still retain american citizenship (or is this a question for the supreme court?)

A crazy yet powerful neighbor in my

building claimed she had a recording

of me (on her computer) making

terrorist like statements about the

current President (about his death).

I am not a Bush fan, I am against

the war in Iraq, but I know I would

not/did not make a statement of that

nature. This is just the tip of the

iceberg. This person has been

harassing me for about 3 years now

and my quality of life has suffered

greatly.

I have many other questions, some

in different categories of law, I just

wanted to see if anyone could answer

this one first.

Presidential Power and the Second Amendment

In spite of what the NRA is now claiming in regards to Obama, does any sitting president have the power to personally overturn the Second Amendment and the right for a citizen to bear arms?

Rights of Citizens Re: Elected Officials

I intend, if this election is won by the Republican slate, to publish a written statement saying I do not recognize the authority of this government to negotiate on my behalf with any foreign power or to represent my interests in any way. I intend to ask those with a similar outlook to do the same. I have no intention of trying to form a splinter party. I simply cannot and will not allow my name to be attached in any way to a government that includes people whose competence and character I cannot abide. What are citizens' rights as to the alliegence we owe to elected officials? Is there any provision in the Constitution that allows us to reject their authority? I have simply hit the wall, after eight years of having no one in the executive branch whose integrity and intelligence I trust. If it can only be a symbolic gesture, so be it. But I want to be able to send this statement to heads of foreign states to make it clear that some of us do not agree with the actions of our government. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My 17 year old was arrested following an altercation with another minor in her therapy session. The charge: harassment and a restraining order. Judge set bail at $100, told me I earn too much (teacher salary) for free attorney and to get one and come to court week later. I did not see the point of paying fees (times are tough and my daughter's mental health issues are expensive). I brought all her medical with me, dressed appropriately, asked for a few minutes of the judges time politely and he refused, scolding me to get an attorney. I did not argue but I wanted to ask, ''why do I have to pay someone to hand over these very papers and he will say exactly what I am capable of saying.'' The hell of this is the group therapy is for BPD patients that are all at the ''potential for violent behaviors''. There all in group because they can't control there rage. I am to return again this week, and I still don't plan to hire an attorney. By law, do I have to? I am aware that I may be charged with contempt but isn't that a bit much considering my daughter has no history with respect to any previous violations of the law. Am I compelled to hire a lawyer for my minor child because the judge says so?

if a superior court judge puts a pelimiary injunction against a business you were working for. And the judge says in the order that I can't work in that field selling the same product of home improvements dosen't that violate my rights to own a living if thats what I know to provide for my family?

Age descrimination

A local mall recently enacted a rule that anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. My question is: is it legal to demand to see identification of someone based on one's assumption of their age? I wonder because if a police officer asks you for ID you can ask them if you are free to go, if they are not ready to enact a Terry stop then you may walk away without showing them your ID. Is the same true for say a mall security guard?

Violating Constitutional Rights

I was detained for supposedly stalking, then handcuffed and put in a car. I was brought to a police station, and questioned, about the stalking which would end, then questioned about keying a car. I answered questions that would incriminate myself however was never read my miranda rights, and although only ''detained'', I was handcuffed and I believed I was in custody. These are both in violation of my fifth amendments rights - custodial interrogation, my miranda warnings, and no self incrimination due to my signing a document that said I did something. What can I do since my constitutional rights were violated?

Person's Right to Work Freedom

Scenario: Person A wants to work for person B, and applies to that company without any solitication by person B using pubically available information to apply, but Person B has a ''non compete'' with Person A's company that includes a will not solicit or hire.

Question: Is Person A's freedom to work wherever he/she wants infringed upon by Person B's non compete?

Conflict of Interest

In the City of Manassas Park the City Council and the elected Treasurer are publicly supporting a change in the City charter to remove the Treasurer as an elected office to a City Financial Director. This includes the Treasurer using the City tax supported web site to advocate this change and the City Council supporting the City Manager and other empoloyees, who are citizens, in circulating the required petitions on City time.

i am an interior designer who preformed planning & design services for a commerical bowling alley, the client racked up many hours of design time and now does not want to pay the bill. We have a contract which we followed and he just keep delaying the payments. Now he owes us 11,000 +/- Can i put a lean on his project to delay his progress till he pays me fairly for the hours i put into his project?
