Hi,
I am name, resident of address. I called you
requesting various options for my apartment(address) in case if
I want to do month-to-month lease after my current lease expiration on
Jan 31 2009.
I read there is some option in the lease paperwork about month to
month rental option and I am just checking with you about the details.
Please let me know the terms, various options, rent per month etc,.

In further response to your first question, I respond to your second question.
Your email does not appear to mislead (unintentionally) the landlord that you intended to renew the year lease.
