Unlicensed Contractor
A managing partner of a LLC hires his own construction company to be the development/construction manager for the project. It is later found that his construction company's contractors license is expired and there are also constuction defects on the project just completed. What liability is the LLC exposed to for having this general contractor who is not licensed? Also is there any recourse to the partnership for having paid this partners company large amounts of money when it is not a licensed contractor?

You say it is "his own" company. If he is a contractor, he is presumed to know and follow the strict statutory construction of the Contractor's Resgistration Statute.
His LLC could well have some liability - especially if it is an LLC designed to be a "shell" company to shield assets.
There may be recourse, there may not. You really should consult with an attorney who practices construction and business entity law.
