In 1987 I was here in the US on a B1B2 visa and my 6 month stay on the I-94 had expired. I didn't know that it had expired until I was arrested in Blaine, Washington trying to go to Canada to visit. I was detailed, ended up in front of a judge. I was given the option of voluntary deportation, and I left the US 2 weeks after that.
I have been a US Permanent resident for the last 10 years, and I want to apply for citizenship. One of the documents that I need to provide which is on the N-400 application is my deportation record. I went to USCIS in Tukwila, WA but they had no idea where my record is. I called the Immigration Court in Seattle, and they too have no idea where I can find my record.
Please contact an immigration attorney to help you with this because it will take time to get it thru FOIA. And if your test is soon time is not in your side. Good luck
You will need to file multiple requests under the Freedom of Information Act. Consult with an attorney if you do not know how to do that.
US CIS wouldn't have your court records.
Stop using the telephone, file a WRITTEN request for your file with EVERY AGENCY:
- CIS
- EOIR
- CBP
You might be wise to have an attorney help you ... especially since this should have come up when you got your greencard 30 years ago.
