You say you were fired for "willful misconduct." Who told you it was willful. All the employer has to do is put down "willful misconduct" and the UC will deny it. Willful misconduct is well defined by the UC commission on their webpage. You should file for unemployment NOW, and if you already have and been denied, you should file asking for an APPEAL NOW!!! There is a strict time limit on filing an appeal. Talk with one of us here at avvo.com about exactly what willful misconduct is. They have to Prove you did something willful. Now if you stole something and they have you on tape, that is willful. But do give one of us a call and tell us the entire situation. Or better yet, we cannot call you, so use avvo Messenger and send us a message with you phone number and a time to call. Weekends are fine and the call us complimentary for most of us. You may well be entitled to UC benefits. Also the finding of not-eligible is turned over a lot.
