I want to record a conversation for legal evidence purposes. The situation is that I need to get something clear with my financial aid office at my university and if they keep giving me the run around I will have to take matters into my own hands and have the law on my side. Will it benefit me to record the conversation? Do I have to ask if it is ok with them to be recorded?

I suggest you send them a letter listing your questions and requesting a written reply.
