I work at a local car dealership in Atlanta. I sold my car out right to them for 16,500. There was a pay off of 7,100 left on the car with Ford Credit. I signed the paperwork to allow transfer of title. They told me it would take a couple of days to pay off the loan and receive my check for the balance. It has been two weeks now and the loan still hasn't been paid off, nor have I recieved any money. To make it worse, they sold the car yesterday to a customer. Is this legal? I don't want to stir the pot too much, fear of losing my job, but don't want to lose 10,000 dollars either.

I'd sit down with your boss and politely ask for the money. If your dealer is so sleazy that it is selling cars that it has not paid for, it is likely either in financial crisis or is committing crimes or at least unethical behavior. You should not want to work for such people. If they don't give you the money, find another job and sue them before they go bankrupt.
