I have been temporarily laid off from work due to the coronavirus pandemic since they have closed all bars and restaurants in my city. On Friday my landlord sent his brother over pretending to be him, and even introduced himself as my landlord (I have never actually met my landlord, I have always dealt with his mother because he lives 3 hours away but she apparently passed away Thursday night) and told me if I didn't give him some money in two hours that he was shutting off my electricity. I told him I was waiting on a deposit from my stocks that I sold to hit my bank account and that I was doing everything I could to get the money together, and exactly two hours later the "landlord" was in the gate and turned off the electric at my box and put a pad lock on it. Isn't it illegal for a landlord to do this? What should I do? My neighbor even saw the "landlord" and called the real landlord to inform him since she didn't know who that guy was either and he told her he told him to turn the electric off until I pay my rent in full. My uncle is who disabled lives with me also so I'm now having to sell our household stuff to try and come up with rent and a hotel. What do i do? I'm so lost

Call the police. Immediately. Now. Your LL and the idiot brother have committed an act that could get them in a LOT of trouble. Criminal and civil.
