My parents are here visiting us from Nepal. They were given 2 months visa, but we extended their visa which would be good thru April 30th (i.e extra 4 months, to make it a total of 6 months). They had flight from SFO to HongKong and from Hong Kong to Kathmandu. Now Airline just notified that the flight from SFO to HKG is cancelled. To make it worse, Nepal has restricted all flights arrivals in the country. And its all part of COVID19.
What are my options ? Please advise.
I plan on applying for visa extension for about 1-2 months with valid documents of airline ticket cancellation, and official announcement copy of Nepal government restricting all arrivals. Can you please advise if I can have the visa extended second time, given I have very legitimate and valid reason to do so ? There is no newer flights that guarantees any departing flight on or before April 30th from US to Nepal at this time.
If not, what can I do ?
Keep all records re cancellations and apply for an extension of their visas; it may take a bit longer than 1-2 months for the flights to resume however given the current circumstances. Good luck!
Yes, you can apply again for another extension. I agree with my colleague that you need to provide documentation of the airline cancellation and that no flights are going into Nepal.
Yes, if you have documentation of no flights being permitted into Nepal, you can ask for more time for your parents, up to a maximum of 12 months from when they arrived.
NOTE: Make sure you also have proof that the airline is allowing them to re-book.
A visitor in the US with a prior extension may again file for an extension of stay.
