I gave my company 2-week notice right before the coronavirus crisis broke and I'm now concerned it might take a long time for me to land my next job. I'm not sick, nor is anyone in my family. The job was just a bad fit for my career and I wanted to take some time off to find a better job. I have no new job lined up at the moment. I'm a US permanent resident (green card holder) and I live in California.
Is it possible to obtain unemployment benefits? I live in an area where this benefit would not even cover rent costs, but it would be better than nothing.
Thanks in advance!
In most States you would not qualify for Unemployement Compensation if you voluntarily terminated your own employment. You can't quit your job and then claim to be poor-sort of like the man who murdered his parents and asked the judge for leniancy because he was an orphan.
