When my sister moved out on my elderly mother, some then were left in the garage. When my mother moved out and I went to clean out garage, items were mixed = some my mother's and other's my sister's. I called her and told her to come and get the items. And today at court we told her again. It was a pre-trial hearing. She is falsely suing the landlord for $7500 worth of personal property she said he took. In Texas - a police officer told me that when two people live together (even mother and daughter) it is considered community property. My sister moved out before the lease was up taking some of my mother's personal belongings.

You should consult an attorney. I can tell you that community property can only exist within a marriage, not between other relatives. That does not mean that they might not own property together.

Good luck.
