Child with Special Needs
Hi,
My daughter has special educational needs. She has short term memory and auditory processing problems. The school district has made accommodations for her, and has recently started to try and mainstream her. The affect is causing my daughter's stress level to reach a point that the stress has started to manifest itself physically. The school was informed, but did nothing about it.
Last week during the practice for a school play, the teacher running the play yelled at my daughter, and then publicly humiliated her. This incident caused my daughter to become physically ill, and she had to go to the doctor and was placed on medication to try and alleviate some of the symptoms. The doctor recommended that she be removed from the play. When we informed the school of this decision, they said that if she quits the play she will face ridicule from the students, and the faculty will also be unhappy.
Im not sure what my options are, but I need to do something before my 10yr old daughter has a nervous breakdown.
Thanks for your guidance.
