Mistake from past coming back to haunt
35 years ago my ex-girl friend gave birth to a baby girl, that may or may not have been mine. At the time I was willing to marry the mother, but she broke off the relationship. I was never asked to pay child support and the baby is now 35 years of age. The baby's step dad recently sent me a letter asking me for my family's medical history. If there is a chance this child was indeed mine, I want to provide the information. However I am nervous about providing names or to much information to a stranger. What if anything am I required to provide? I was also wondering if there was any financial risk with answering their letter.

There is no legal requirement that you provide any information in response to this inquiry. You may disclose as little or as much information as you wish, although I would probably qualify any response with a disclaimer that you may have incomplete or incorrect information about your family's medical history. You are certainly entitled to protect the identities of your family by simply indicating them by their relationship to you.
I cannot think of any way that answering their letter would lead to financial risk, since the child is 35 years old.
