unfinished landscaping job

i signed a contract that stated that they were not responsible for damaged pipes but they broke an irrigation pipe which happens to be under the patio (pavers) that they built. the owner fixed the pipe (for his own reasons) but did not return to put the pavers back so we have an unfinished patio. he will not return phone calls and has not recieved final payment. How long to I legally have to give him to finish the job before I hire someone else?

Re: unfinished landscaping job

You may wish to send a certified letter to the contractor requesting he cure the defect and finish the work. Further, you also may wish to bid out the balance of the job and hire a replacement contractor using the balance of the unpaid money from the original contractor.
