I’m 17 & pregnant. My boyfriend is 20 years old. My parents will be furious, can they press any charges on him?

Yes, they can press charges. He cannot be charged with statutory rape because 16 is the age of consent in Georgia. However, they can have him arrested for custodial interference and/or contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Both of these are misdemeanor charges.

Their disappointment in your lack of appreciation of the care and protection they tried to provide so that you might have a memory of a happier, more free few years of growth and development will fade eventually. They will hopefully see a new grandchild and find new places to spend their love and see you in a different light. My guess is a lot depends on how you handle things next. You controlled the gateway, you alone are responsible for your actions. You now get to find out whether you were right in your choice of companions or your parents. Either way, keep them close in your life. Both you and the baby will need them. It's just a wee bit late for advice from strangers on legal matter, though what you have received is right on. Advice about what? The age of consent in Georgia is 16 so no crime has been committed from what you’ve said. Hope he has a job that provides you and the baby health insurance and that he can support you and the baby during the COVID crisis.
