I tried to serve my husband divorce papers by mail, he refused them and they were returned to me by the post office. What are my options now? I have filed them with the courts but only the first part, we are trying to do this without lawyers, but at what point do I retain one?

Contact the sheriff in the county where he lives. The sheriff will serve them for a fee.

You should have a lawyer if there are children involved and/or if you have significant property, such as a home, or large bills.
