Just found out I have nephew in foster care. Do I have a right to try to get custody or visitation. Mom worthless, dad in jail.

Re: Aunt has nephew in foster care

Yes, as an aunt, you can be considered for custody. The first thing to do is notify social services and ask for a home evaluation to be done. If approved, you will get custody without needing an attorney.

If they refuse to consider you, you can complain up the chain of command with the Cabinet.

Also, you can file a motion to intervene with the court. If the social workers are not in your court, you likely will not get far without an attorney.
