I have permanent custody of a child who has 3 older siblings in foster care. Their foster parents are currently in the process to adopt the 3 siblings. If they get the parents rights terminated in their case, will i also have to get them terminated in my (adoption) case for the younger sibling, or once the parent has lost parental rights of once child do they lose rights of all children?
Depending on the facts of the case, the birth parents’ consent may not even be required.
If you have not been approved by the state as a foster parent, you will likely need to file a petition to adopt and a termination of parental rights as to the child in your custody. The birth parents may be willing to consent to avoid another involuntary termination. You should contact a Kentucky adoption attorney like myself for a free consultation.
