Credit account

I was a nanny for a woman who set up a credit account at the fitness club where she had also given me an membership. On the membership agreement is my information, but she put her SSN down to be responsible for the account. Now that I'm no longer in her employment, she wants me to pay for all the charges incurred even though she verbally told me that the membership and account were part of the 'nanny perks'. Can I be held responsible for the charges on this account? If she gives them my SSN, will it go on my credit report?

Re: Credit account

no, no, no

I notice that people from Seattle are a severe bunch of individuals and believe that the unsaid and the implied lead to contractual obligations if they think such a thing is, in their construct, "fair".

The contract between you and the fitness club does not exist; not only is your name not matching the SS#, I am assuming you did not sign the membership agreement either.

Should she go back and put down your SS# without your consent, thinking she is creating the contract for you, she is committing identity fraud. Write her a warning letter.

Should the fitness club say you are responsible, just say, "you got the wrong gal."
