It sounds like from your question that the criminal aspect of your case has been resolved in your favor. Assuming the person who was struck by your vehicle wishes to continue to pursue her case, she will need to do so by pursuing a civil claim. I suspect that if that person was injured and wishes to continue her case she will pursue a financial recovery from the person who struck you. In any event, be sure to place your insurance carrier on notice that there is a potential the person you struck is alleging you did something wrong. That way, in the event that person pursues a claim you will be protected by your insurance carrier.

If you saw the other person in your rearview, it sounds like they were the one who was following too closely. You need to find a Georgia Personal Injury attorney to give you a free consult on how to help you recover for any damages you might have sustained. I’d be glad to speak with you and potentially refer you to someone who can assist you to determine what your next steps are.

What happened in the traffic court hearing does not necessarily carry over into your personal injury claim. Technically the traffic court judge didn't declare you "innocent." Instead you were found "not guilty" of the citation as charged. It may sound like a technicality, but the difference does have meaning.

In a nutshell, you need an attorney to read over the motor vehicle collision report and discuss the facts of the case with you. I would have a number of questions about what happened here before I can tell you how things should go with your situation.
