What is the penalty for obtaining a background check using false information? Some one I know is trying to use a form that states the person for whom a background check is requested in supervising children. The person in question is not in fact supervising children nor are they in contact with children during the normal course of their occupation.
Depends a bit of the place the background check was used, the purpose, the intent, etc. Generally, such behavior is not more severe than a C felony under state law. Civil lawsuit damage amount could also vary wildly.
