I received a summons from Chase (Credit card) back in April/2010. I answered that complaint within the 20 days (not affirming or denying all but the county I reside in) and have not heard anything more from anyone. I continue to check the Clerks website for status change but it's unchanged.

Is there a time limit that the Plaintiff has to continue with this or can it sit in this state indefinitely? Should I file something else asking this to be dismissed at this point or is this normal? It has been roughly 5 months now since the answer.

I live and work in West Palm Beach FL. One of the buses I take to work usually stops a half a block from where I work, (on Spencer, just off of Okeechobee Blvd). The road where it stops (Spencer) is under construction but bus drivers usually drop passengers off at where there used to be a bus shelter, about 100 feet north of Okeechobee Blvd. This morning the bus driver I had didn't stop at that stop and continued to ignore my request to stop. She ignored my repeated requests to stop and instead continued on until the bus turned off onto Palm Beach Lakes Blvd and stopped at the first bus stop on that road (about a half mile past the one I wanted to get off on). She used as an excuse that she couldn't stop because of road construction. I weigh over 300 pounds and, because of the heat and humidity, feel that the extra half mile walk was a threat to my health. I have to admit that I did use inappropriate language, but at the time I felt like I had been kidnapped.

I called the bus company to complain, but all the supervisor said was that buses aren't allowed to stop along Spencer. There was no indication that the bus would not stop on Spencer, either on the bus, in the bus schedule pamphlet the bus company offers to its passengers, or on its website. I would like to know my rights as I feel that I should get the police involved because I felt I was being held against my will so this doesn't happen to anyone else

A. How can I gain legal title to an abandoned home; Is there a way that I can legally gain title to the property?

B. What Attorney in Lee County, Florida can assist me in successfully getting the title put in my name?

1) What happens to abandoned property (residential home located in the city of Cape Coral, Florida "Lee County" has been vacant for three years)? The mortgage company that holds the mortgage said they don't own it and can't give any additional information.

2) The city foreclosed on the property for an enforcement violation �Stagnant water in pool�. The pool still hasn�t been drained.

3) Tax lien sold in 2007 for failure to pay taxes. The property has been vacant for more than three years.

I am a Professor in Florida; A year ago, I had signed as a guarantor on the rental application of one of my students who came from overseas. I did this in the good faith as he had no one to vouch for. Now the student is no longer working with me and is not in good terms with me. The rental property owner insists that I cannot get out as a guarantor and that I am responsible until he moves out. In the statement I signed "... This obligation will continue for the full term of tenancy which includes any renewals and/or modifications of the initial lease."

My questions:

(1) How can the contract be written such that there is no term limit to the guarantor? It does not seem to make sense that I will be responsible for next 50 years, if the tenant chooses to live there for next 50 years!!!

(2) Does the law require the property owner to contact the guarantor when the lease is renewed or modified? They did not contact me when the lease was renewed.

(3) How can I get out of this obligation?
